Begun in the early 1900's, the Botter story is one of continuing success. Carlo Botter, a farmer by origin, left the fields and began to act as broker of wines. He would send his casks of wines to the best inns in Venice and the zone around the Piave, navigating by the internal canals of the area. With the money he made, he began to construct a cellars of his own and to buy the best lands available. By the 1950's they were exporting to regions outside of the Veneto and by the 1960's they began exporting their own wines to other European countries.

Part of the production is from their own lands which mainly lie on the alluvial rich soil at the confines of the Veneto and Friuli , other is furnished by growers who have worked with the Botter family for years and is basically an extension of their own vineyards.

They produce several lines of different quality levels using Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, Valpolicella, Prosecco, Soave and Bardolino. The Botters, like the best Veneto houses, have also expanded their production to include wines from Apulia, Calabria, Sicily to offer their clients a complete range of wines.

This Nero d'Avola is one of those wines from Sicily - it is deep, earthy, smooth and easy to drink with a nice plum-like lift  in the tail with a dry finish. Prefect to drink on its own, or with tapas-style food
