Elgin Region
Cathy Marshall's Pinot grapes are selected from the ultra cool Elgin Valley between Somerset West and Hermanus. The valley is located at an altitude of about 700 m above sea level and surrounded by a ring of mountains that results in a high annual precipitation and low average temperatures of around 19o Celsius. The Pinot expresses complex layers of black cherry, dark chocolate and supported by a mineral line of fine textured oak tannins. It is best served at 16 to 18 degrees Celcius, with wild mushroom risotto, prawns, salmon, duck, venison and lamb.
