A recent visit to the magnificent estate that has been transformed by Laurence Graff, yielded not only views, magnificent architecture and interiors, but a meeting with a very special, talented winemaker by the name of Morne Vrey. Whilst their whites are excellent, it was the Shiraz 2009 that really impressed. It was an exceptional vintage for red wine, with perfect conditions through the season. This juicy, ripe and approachable Shiraz with its ruby-purple colour, has aromas of white pepper on dark red fruits, laced with lavender. It is deeply flavoured, with tannins propping it all up, but finishes savoury, dry and long. Drinks well now, but will age well until 2015.
