Musky redcurrant, graphite, licorice, tar, dried flowers and earth tones on the highly aromatic nose. Broad, fat and impressive, with good structure and grip to the flavors of dark fruits, graphite and minerals. Finishes with big, broad, dusty tannins that coat the front teeth. This is like a smaller-scaled Barolo. Clerico included 5% cabernet sauvignon in this blend through the 2001 vintage, but no longer. The nebbiolo comes from young vines in Clerico's three Barolo crus.
