The Fattoria di Bagnolo property is owned by the noble Bartolini Baldelli family whose origins date back to 1080 in the city of Cortona near Arezzo, and was admitted to the Florentine city in 1559. The same family owns and runs this business, and they have three properties. This one is situated a few kilometres outside Florence, on the sunny hilltops. It dates back to 1419, but only came into the family's hands in 1811.  The Chianti Colli Fiorentini 2007 Riserva is fermented in stainless steel tanks, macerated on the skins for eleven days with regular punch-downs, and malolactic fermentation is encouraged. It is matured and refined in oak barrels of different capacities for six months, after which bottling takes place and it is released after a further six months. We should add that the majority of the wine is Sangiovese, with small amounts of Colorino and Merlot. It has an intense ruby-red colour, and a bouquet of mixed fruits, mainly strawberries, rose-hips and violets. It is vibrantly fruity on the palate, with perfect balance and elegant tannins, followed by a long, persistent finish.  Superb with Spaghetti Bolognaise and Pappardelle with wild boar sauce.
