Napier Region
Though the Daneel family's boutique wine cellar is in Napier, in the southern Cape, Jean sourced grapes from Stellenbosch and Perdeberg for this particular vintage 2009. Each area gives different flavours and components to the total blend due to the difference in soil and climate. The wine was left in the barrel for 1 year like previous vintages, with regular stirring of the lees in the early months to give the wine more complexity. It fills the mouth with fresh Chenin fruitiness, and has light tones of lime, honeysuckle, baked apples and dried apricots. The acidity of the wine gives it a lovely lift. Will mature beautifully over five years.
