Ken and Theresa Forrester found this Chenin vineyard (now 35 years old) at Zandberg farm when they purchased it in 1993. The grapes were hand-harvested and strict bunch selection was made in the winery. The juice was fermented in tank and barrel, and left on its lees for nine months. The wine is golden hued and full bodied, with melon and spicy baked apple aromas. Layered, with mineral notes enhanced by honeycomb and caramel flavours from lees contact. This wine is a great example of the harmonious balance which can be achieved between fruit and delicate oak/vanilla flavours, as they combine to form complex, soft flavours with sufficient body to enhance spicy and full flavoured meals such as chicken, crayfish and prawns. Keep for a few years and be well rewarded.
