2019 Tasting Programme

We wish you a wonderful 2019 and look forward to seeing you soon. Big news here is that Simone Norval has been promoted to the Manager position here, after two years’ service and training. Her bubbly personality and ever-increasing wine knowledge is an asset to our shop. She is assisted by Yolani, who is ever present and always keen to share his wine knowledge with customers. I am going to go and run the Tokai store with Rubina as of 1st February, but will be present at all the tastings in town.

Thursday 14th February:  LES VIGNERONS PARISIENS & CAPE RHONE WINES. It took many years to get permission to open the doors of Paris’s first urban winery, Les Vignerons Parisiens. Moving grapes across appellations into a city, with négociant-style production, is the antithesis of the rules of the Appellation d’origine Contrôlée – the government wine regulator dating back to the 15C. The vineyards are located down in Visan, Southern Rhône which is a 15-hour journey by refrigerated truck. Les Vignerons Parisiens is a collaboration between 4 oenologists and biodynamic viticulture consultants who have worked with Southern Rhône vines for two decades.  Taste their Turbigo Cinsault 2016, Haussmann Syrah and Lutece Blanc 2017 ( Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne ), compared with Rall Cinsault 2017, Fable Syrah 2014, AA Badenhorst White 2016, Leeuwenkuil Marsanne 2016 and Lieben Roussanne 2017. R200 p/p
