This province at the foot of the Alps in NW Italy produces wines from the Nebbiolo grape that rival the best reds in the world. They are complex, with deep fruit and beguiling tertiary flavours that develop with age. From my personal cellar I will extricate six mature wines that will be served in three flights with three courses of small plates. Cascina Luisin Barbaresco Asili 2011, Roagna Cru Paje 2009, Gaja Barbaresco 2007; Marco Marengo Barolo Brunate 2010, Marengo Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2010; Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo Bussia 2007 and Paolo Scavino Cannubi 2006. Our chef will be Brad Ball, ex Bistro 1682 at Steenberg and now Head Chef for the new owners at Open Door. R1100 p/p incl gratuity.
