Wednesday 18th October: BLANK BOTTLE WINES with Pieter Walser in person.
Why such a strange name? In a nutshell, Pieter doesn’t want wine drinkers to have a preconceived idea of how his wine ‘should’ taste. “Clothes maketh not the man; judge our wines on what’s in the bottle, not by means of preconceived ideas. In 2004, a lady came to my office to buy wine. She asked for anything but Shiraz. ‘ I don’t drink Shiraz ’, were her exact words. I poured her a glass of wine. She loved it and bought 3 cases. It was a straight Shiraz” Having no indication of cultivar on the bottle, not only demands complete honesty when it comes to quality, but it allows me the opportunity to introduce once-off limited runs of interesting wines. An honest brand that had no limitations when it came to style, vintage, area or cultivars. Something for someone with an open mind and an adventurous heart. Taste with and meet this wonderful man for R150 p/p

Wednesday 6th September: THE OLD VINE PROJECT with Andre Morgenthal, Manager of the project. The South African old vines category has captured the attention of the global wine world. The interaction between the ancient soils, the variety of terroirs found around the Cape, and the vibrant people who have cared for these vineyards over the centuries, provides us with a proud platform from which the OVP has emerged and strives to preserve. South Africa has a total of 4292 hectares of vineyards that are 35 years and older (Ref: SAWIS, 2022) In between familiar names and landscapes, are diverse soils, varying landscapes, different proximity to the sea, and vastly different median temperatures and slopes. Taste Keermont Riverside Chenin Blanc 2017 ( 1971 ); David & Nadia Hoe Steen Chenin 2021 (1968); Chamonix OV Steen 2020 ( 1965 ); Koelenhof Stellenbosch Bush Vine Chenin Blanc 2017; The Old Road Wine Co Semillon 2016 ( 1936 ); Lammershoek Die Onderstok Carignan 2017 ( 1976 ); Roodekrantz Cinsaut 2018 ( 1954 ); Villiera Bush Vine Gamay Noir (1981); Bellevue Pinotage 2018 ( 1953 ); Imvini Wethu Cinsault-Pinotage (1932 and 1973).
