Thursday 22nd July:  Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir 6-vintage Vertical 2015 – 2020
Pioneering Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Pinot Noir producer, Hamilton Russell Vineyards, celebrated 40 vintages with their recently released 2020. Proprietor, Anthony Hamilton Russell, simultaneously celebrated 30 years at the helm.

Anthony will present the tasting, which will illustrate the common thread of the property’s style along with the individual personality of the vintage. Unusually close proximity to the cooling influence of the South Atlantic, combined with extremely iron-rich and clay-rich soils have produced a style of Pinot Noir with a far more “Burgundian” aesthetic than is usual for New World Pinot Noir producers. Organic and regenerative farming since 2014, along with the skills of winemaker, Emul Ross, have nursed an extra resonance and purity of expression out of their cherished 52 hectare “monopole” on their 170 hectare Estate.
