“The nose is bloody great and so is the palate. End of note. More specifically, expect ripe pear, citrus rind, and some sweet herbal notes on the nose. The palate is energetic, just about perfectly weighted somewhere between richness and crystalline refreshment. The finish is long and moreish.” – Winemaker

‘94% Chenin Blanc and 6% Semillon – the Franschhoek vineyard normally bottled under the Monument label employed here. Expressive aromatics with notes of lime, lemon, white peach, Granny Smith apple and floral perfume. Excellent fruit concentration, plenty of drive and a dry finish. Producing some of our most profound and haunting white wines, Chris and Suzaan Alheit have an especially accomplished touch with Chenin. There has been a shift in the Alheits’ focus towards single origin wines which highlights a better understanding and translation of the vineyard.

Cartology means the study of maps or charts. It could not be a more perfect name for this wine. Not only because of our endeavours to search for and find these
special old vineyards, but also because the wine itself can be seen as a vinous map or tapestry of the Cape
