“Leafy hedgerow fruit, graphite, spice and cedar with a tobacco leaf nuance on the nose. Complex and inviting. More ripe berry fruit is found in the mouth: cherry, youngberry, blackberry and plums. Pretty in its succulence and pliability. Vibrant spice adds to the complexity. The palate is softly textured and approachable, supple but also muscular with its squeeze of dry tannin from time in barrel. Lovely long, lingering finish which offers up graphite and dried herbs. Layered, complex and rich but also elegant and refined.” – Winemaker

International businessman Johann Rupert’s model winemaking enterprise, named for his late brother, Anthonij, has 18th century L’Ormarins Estate, situated beneath the jagged peaks of the Groot Drakenstein mountains in the Franschhoek valley as its home. Anthonij Rupert Wyne focus on terroir specific wines made from a number of sites for optimal varietal specific growing conditions. Grapes are sourced from own prime vineyards in Darling, Swartland, Elandskloof and the home farm, as well as exceptional vineyard sites, including old-vine parcels around the winelands. Vinification is by specialist winemakers in four custom cellars. The venture encompasses an internationally successful quintet of brands, namely: Anthonij Rupert, Cape of Good Hope, L’Ormarins, Terra del Capo and Jean Roi.

Cabernet Sauvignon is from their vineyards in Franschhoek, growing in the warm and temperate conditions of the valley in decomposed granite soil. Naturally fermented and aged for twenty-four months in 80% new French oak. Bottled unfiltered, this prestigious wine is aged for another twenty-four months before release.
