Beeslaar Chardonnay 2023

Abrie  Beeslaar was raised in the town of Worcester, situated in a major wine-growing region of the Western Cape. Initially he wanted to study medicine, but fate (and the student culture at the University of Stellenbosch) steered him in another direction and he obtained a BSc degree in Viticulture and Oenology in 1997. From the start Beeslaar Wines was a family affair, with Abrie’s wife Jeanne (who also hails from a grape farm in the Swartland) in charge of the office administration and logistics and their two children, son Ben and daughter Emma, who are often seen lending a helping hand when it comes to preparing orders.

The grapes were handpicked and whole bunch pressed. After allowing the juice to settle for forty eight hours, it was transferred to a combination of 20% new French oak barrels, older French oak and ceramic pots for fermentation. Prior to bottling, the wine was matured for twelve months on the lees.
