THE WINEMAKER

Jean Gabriel Camou purchased his first vines in 1987 before his father who was taking retirement gave him a few more in 1988. Then in 1989, a neighbour who didn’t want to sell to the “big boys” sold him a parcel surrounded by Duhart Milon. Unable to afford a winery, Mr Camou sold his first harvests to the Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and the juice was incorporated into Clerc Milon. He gave his wine its own identity when he purchased his winery in 1994 and Château Béhèré Courtin was born.

THE WINE

Right next door to Mouton Rothschild, this small property is producing wines that are dominated by the rich, firm Cabernet Sauvignon of Pauillac. The weight and density are very present, a solid dry core surrounded by delicious black currant fruits. A wine that will mature relatively fast because of the vintage.
