Region: Polkadraai, Stellenbosch
Boschkloof is situated in the Polkadraai Hills, just West of Stellenbosch, where Jacques Borman and his son Reenen, create superb wines from their tiny 19 hectare-vineyard holdings. Only 1000 cases were produced of this excellent blend of 60% Cabernet and 40% Merlot. The medium, ruby-garnet colour leads to an aroma of wild cherry-like characters, laced with cedar and red flowers. On palate, it is smooth on entry, evolving into a medium to deep fruity flavour, firmed up by dry tannins. This wine is quite young still, so I recommend that you lay it down for a year, but if you want to drink it now, make sure you have a good rump steak to hand, fried/braaied to perfection as you like it.
