The Boschkloof Epilogue shows amazing potential for ageing. Its loaded with perfumed lavender combined with hints of oak spices. The true beauty of this wine, however, is the firm but fine tannin structure. A wine that lingers and salivate – Winemakers Note

“From a single vineyard approaching 30 years of age planted to SH99 on granite. 65% in concrete (this portion entirely whole-bunch fermented), 35% in new oak and 5% in older oak. The nose is beguiling with notes of black berries, olive, herbs, lavender, sage and pepper while the palate is vivid and vital – great fruit concentration, bright acidity and firm but fine-grained tannins. Pure and precise – has a real succulence about it without any trace of sweetness. The intricacy of flavour and structure is captivating, the wine still tightly coiled – almost impossible to resist now but should drink magnificently from 2025 to 2029. The best vintage of this rightfully acclaimed wine yet. Alc: 13.5%. Total production: 4 000 bottles.” – 98/100 CE

Veteran winemaker, Jacques Borman, and his wife Marina, established Boschkloof in 1996 to pursue his dream of starting his own family winery. Their son, Reenen, joined the family business in 2010 and took over the winemaking duties in 2012. Boschkloof is a boutique winery with a team that consists of three families that have worked on the farm and in the cellar for over fifteen years. The farm is named after the natural ravine or ‘kloof’ on the farm. The land consists of rolling hills and picturesque mountain backdrops. The vineyards are situated in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch and the soil is mostly decomposed granite and koffieklip. The south-east facing slopes, together with a maritime influence from False Bay, gives their wine the unique quality it’s known for.
While the original vineyards on the farm consisted mainly of Cape Riesling, Jacques decided to remove it and plant better-suited cultivars like Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Today Boschkloof is most renowned for their Syrah, especially the single vineyard bottling called Epilogue.
