Created in Volnay in 1731, the Maison Bouchard Père & Fils has patiently assembled, over several generations, one of the finest domaines in Burgundy. It was in a fortress, built in the XIth Century and completed in the XVth Century by King Louis XI, that Bouchard Père & Fils established itself in 1820. Situated in the heart of Beaune, this extraordinary site, classified a “Monument Historique”, offers an exceptional setting for our visitors and, above all, superb storage conditions for our Grands Vins. It is in fact in underground cellars, behind walls 7m thick, that our best bottles rest quietly, sheltered from any vibration or temperature variation.
Over time, Bouchard Père & Fils assembled an exceptional domaine that today runs to 130 hectares of vineyard in the heart of the Côte d’Or – 12 of them classified as Grand Cru and 74 as Premier Cru. A unique patrimony in Burgundy, through its diversity and its prestigious appellations: Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Clos Vougeot, Chambertin, Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus, Volnay Caillerets, Meursault Perrières among many others. Names filled with history and emotion, which inspire excellence and respect for the terroir.
“A discreet but not invisible application of wood sets off the ripe plum, dark cherry and earth-suffused aromas. There is good energy and fine concentration to the middle weight flavors that are at once delicious and generous while the mildly austere finish is moderately rustic.” – Allen Meadows, Burghound
