Buitenverwachting means ‘beyond expectation’ and the farm, situated on the slopes of the magnificent Constantiaberg, lives up to its name. The history of the estate is rooted in the very historical heart of South Africa, having once been part of the original Constantia Estate, founded by Simon van der Stel – the first Governor of the Cape. Buitenverwachting produces internationally acclaimed wines of great complexity with unique aromatic profiles and extraordinary elegance reflecting their cool climate Constantia location.
Buitenverwachting’s coldest and most southerly facing vineyard on the estate is known as “Hussey’s Vlei” and produces a Sauvignon Blanc that is distinctively ‘green’, herbaceous and richly flavoured. This wine is part of their Limited Release range.
