Chateau d’Aiguilhe 2016

R865.00

Region: Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux

Tasting note:

“Part of the von Neipperg holdings, this ripe, perfumed wine is rich with tannins and and spice. Black fruits and acidity balance all this firmness to give a wine with delicious potential. Drink this generous blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from 2021.” – Wine Enthusiast – 91 points

“The 2014 d’Aiguilhe has a wonderful, quite detailed bouquet with black cherries, melted tar, minerals and a touch of sea spray. The palate is well balanced with supple red and black fruit, well-judged acidity, very feminine and lithe in the mouth with a caressing and very pure finish. This is just a sublime d’Aiguilhe that will give several years of drinking pleasure.” – Robert Parker Wine Advocate – 91 points

Still at a youthful stage, the wine has a meaty, ferrous nuance but is packed with dark fruit behind. The palate is dense and structured with fine but firm tannins and there’s a fresh, saline finish. The power is there but in a subdued manner. Experience tells me it will age.” – Decanter – 91 points
