Region: Castelnuovo dell’Abate, Montalcino, Tuscany
A classically poised, precise Sangiovese from the region’s most expressive terroirs. Aged in a combination of Slavonian and French oak casks for two years; aged in bottle for one year.

Collosorbo’s 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a deep and penetrating expression of Sangiovese from a warm vintage. You taste the evident fruit ripeness here, thanks to aromas of cherry liqueur, blackberry confit, sweet baking spice and moist chewing tobacco. Contemporary notes of chocolate and toasted espresso bean also fill in at the rear. Sweet fruit flavours appear on the close.
Dark garnet colour. Still a bit closed on the nose, but the palate reveals deep dark sweetish fruits, Autumn forest floor, and finishes with fine tannins and a long complex flavour. Has the makings of a great wine, but very young still – needs another five years minimum to unfurl. ( Caroline April 2018 )
