Tasmania Region, Australia
Dalrymple was established many years ago by the Mintchell and Sundstrup families; the vineyard and brand were acquired by Hill-Smith Vineyards in late 2007.
The fruit for Dalrymple Estate Chardonnay was selected from Block B and C on the estate. These vines are over 25 years old.
22% new French oak, remainder in aged French oak for fermentation.
A light straw, with bright clarity and has aromas of initial green and yellow fruit with a spiced lemon and lime peel richness. Lemon confit with a spicy freshness drive through a clean fresh palate completed with chalked, crushed stone texture. The finish is clean, pure and long.
“A selection of blocks B and C from the estate vineyard plantings has provided a wine with exceptional detail and harmony to both the mouthfeel and the varietal expression of its deceptively light body – deceptive until you note the alcohol. In the end is has stayed well clear of sauvignon blanc territory, and is a great example of Tasmanian chardonnay.” – 96 Points, James Halliday
