Daniel Colombo is one of the most exciting new producers to watch – From bartender at Leo’s Wine Bar in the CBD to stints with Crystallum and Matassa to finally creating his own wines in 2021. This year was even more incredible as Colombo and the love of his life welcomed their first daughter. Colombo thrives off soaking up as much pieces of information due to his desire to see the world from an outsiders perspective. He produces authentic, minimal intervention wines that offer sheer drinking pleasure.
Daniel Colombo Wines Colombar 2024
R328.00
Region: Paarl
Tasting note:
‘Can Colombar take oak? Colombo believes so, this wine fermented and matured for nine months in old 500L barrels. The aromatics are elusive yet intricate with notes of stone fruit, citrus, and even some mango and melon as well as earth and some leesy complexity. The palate is quite broad and texture with bright acidity and a gently savoury finish. While not hugely intense, it’s more intriguing than many examples of this variety.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100
