David Sadie was born and bred in the Swartland and studied Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch. It was here that he met his wife, Nadia (now a qualified soil scientist and viticulturist).
David gained experience both locally and internationally. The tasting of Mediterranean cultivars and its regions made a lasting impression on David’s ideas and palate.
We are part of the Swartland Independent Producers and believe in a natural approach with our wines. Some of the grapes we work with are harvested from organic vineyards and some from old bush vine blocks from farmers in the Swartland who share the same vision. We believe in a wine style where wines are not influenced by using commercial yeasts, enzymes, high sulphur levels or too much new oak. To date we have not used any new oak and prefer working with older and bigger barrels.
Grapes from seven different Swartland vineyards are used, focusing on schist and granite soils of the mountains of the Swartland. The blend consists of Carignan (39%), Syrah (31%), Pinotage (16%), Cinsaut (9%) and Grenache (5%).
