David was born and bred in the Swartland and studied Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch. It was here that he met his wife, Nadia (now a qualified soil scientist and viticulturist).
David gained experience both locally and internationally. The tasting of Mediterranean cultivars and its regions made a lasting impression on David’s ideas and palate.
We are part of the Swartland Independent Producers and believe in a natural approach with our wines. Some of the grapes we work with are harvested from organic vineyards and some from old bush vine blocks from farmers in the Swartland who share the same vision. We believe in a wine style where wines are not influenced by using commercial yeasts, enzymes, high sulphur levels or too much new oak. To date we have not used any new oak and prefer working with older and bigger barrels.
We focused on two vineyards planted in granite mountain soils, as well as organic vines grown in deep iron rich soils. Aged from vintage to vintage. Harmless sediment may occur.
Very tight & youthfulwith firm grape tannins that are laced with delicate, feminine perfume of pomegranate & sour cherry.
