This brilliant wine is made by the long-term winemaker of Saronsberg in Tulbagh. This is a very personal wine for Dewaldt as the quote explains: “My father’s weathered hands testify to a lifetime of faithful toil among the vineyards of his Swartland farm. This stark yet beautiful region leaves its mark on all who call it home, and this wine is the fulfilment of my lifelong dream to express its unique and enduring character. It is inspired by the land I grew up on, and dedicated to the man whose love for the vine was the start of my own.”
Swartland Shiraz has for some time had a cult following, but is quickly developing a reputation for world-class examples of this compelling grape. The colour is a very dark crimson-ruby. Evocative aroma of creamy cherry paste and purple floral notes. Flavour loaded with ripe mixed berries at perfect ripeness, but it is not dense. The balance of acidity is spot-on and the tannins are supple. A great Shiraz, which drinks well now and will improve until 2028+.
