Hartenberg Eleanor Chardonnay 2020

Region: Bottlery

Tasting note:

The bouquet is flush with fresh aromas of citrus and lanolin, finishing on an an enticing floral note. The aroma evolves in glass, developing hints of pastries. The citrus freshness carries through to an elegant and balanced palate. Good acidity met by biscotti and stone fruit with and long finish.

‘CY95, described by Carl Schultz as the “go to clone”, supplies the grapes for this single vineyard Chardonnay on stony red clay loam soils. Light bodied for an Eleanor, with good concentration, toasty 45% oak, a hint of patisserie sweetness and a bright, zesty finish. The wood needs a little more time to integrate. 2023-30’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2021, 94/100
