Longridge Estate is a sustainable winery whose aim is to ‘produce world-class wines in a natural way, applying the age-old traditions of natural winemaking and respecting our land, by not using any herbicides, pesticides or chemical sprays,’ says Jasper Raats, Cellar Master & General Manager. Located in Stellenbosch, Longridge focuses on Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage. Together with their natural, organic and biodynamic methods, they also have free-roaming ducks on the farm which help control insects and other pests, as well as cattle that wander about freely and provide manure for the farm.
Jasper Raats is the shareholder, cellar master and managing director of Longridge Wine Estate, as well as partner in Vigneron Consulting, an international consulting business. The consultancy shares valuable knowledge to a select group of clients, particularly focusing on organic and biodynamic viticulture and oenology. In fact, it was through this consulting business that his relationship with Longridge first started.
O lindo in Portuguese means “The Beautiful”, just like the Nymph reaching for the stars on the etiquette. This wine was crafted from the centuries old Madeiran grape, Verdelho, originating from the Island of Madeira, just off the North-Western Coast of Africa and called Olindo, epitomising the beauty in wine and a fresh, youthful innocence.
