Anthonij Rupert Wyne was founded on the farm L’Ormarins in Franschhoek. Originally owned by the late Anthonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001, the farm was taken over by his brother Johann Rupert in 2003. It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-the-art winemaking facility on the estate, and the beginnings of what was to become a sprawling enterprise with a focus on terroir specific wines.
L’Ormarins Estate pays homage to Jean Roi, French Huguenot and pioneer of these historic vineyards. He was one of 150 exiled French Huguenots who emigrated to the Cape and settled in Olifantshoek (what was to become Franschhoek) between 1688 and 1689. Roi was granted sixty morgen and named it after his hometown Lourmarin in Provence.
Jean Roi Cap Provincial Rosé is a premium, elegant rosé crafted in the style of Provence, France. The individual parcels were harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and cooled overnight. Only the finest quality free-run juice, with minimal colour extraction, was selected and settled prior to spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks and older French oak barrels (12%). The wine spent two months on fine lees before being blended and bottled.
Blend: Grenache 52%, Cinsault 19%, Mourvedre 17% and Shiraz 12%
