The Steytler family have been farming here on the Bottelary Hills since 1946, today owned by brothers Danie and George, with their wives, sons and daughters-in-law taking care of everything. Since he arrived from his winemaking studies in 2009, Danie Jnr has been the winemaker, and they achieve 4.5 and 5 stars regularly in Platter’s Guide.
It has an attractive plummy nose, with a herbaceous line. The palate is broad, with red fruited accessibility, and the property’s signature structure and firm tannins. Medium bodied and dry. Since it’s an everyday wine, serve with a nice old-fashioned cottage pie or bangers & mash.
