Kaapzicht (Cape view – named for the view of Table Mountain) Wine Estate was founded in 1946 by a man who swapped the stark Karoo landscape for the promise of a new life on the hospitable Bottelary Hills, Stellenbosch. The soils are ancient granite and the farm is mostly north-west facing, allowing for intense sunlight, but with the cooling breezes from Table Bay and False Bay.
Today, Kaapzicht is a 4th-generation Steytler-family run farm. The current custodians, cellar master Danie Jnr and wife and marketer Carin, are reshuffling some of the ranges, adding new wines and tweaking the packaging to better reflect the personality of the wines. The portfolio focuses predominantly on the production of Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing a different style of each of these varietals across their three ranges.
By blending five Bordeaux varieties grown on our farm, this is a distinctive expression of our area with bold lushness and power. Vivid, concentrated flavours rest on an intricate frame of tightly woven tannins, delivering purity and finesse. Only released in superior vintages.
Blend: 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, 9% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot
