Power & concentration, within a tightly woven structure showing lots of promise. Generous cassis and black berries as well as vanilla and spice from oak. Complex & multi-dimensional. Those who can resist the temptation will be rewarded well with cellaring.

Kaapzicht (Cape view – named for the view of Table Mountain) Wine Estate was founded in 1946 by a man who swapped the stark Karoo landscape for the promise of a new life on the hospitable Bottelary Hills, Stellenbosch. The soils are ancient granite and the farm is mostly north-west facing, allowing for intense sunlight, but with the cooling breezes from Table and False Bay.
Today, Kaapzicht is a 4th-generation Steytler-family run farm. The current custodians, cellar master Danie Jnr and wife and marketer Carin, are reshuffling some of the ranges, adding new wines and tweaking the packaging to better reflect the personality of the wines. The portfolio focuses predominantly on the production of Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing a different style of each of these varietals across their three ranges.

First made in 2000, the ‘Steytler Vision’ is their Cape Blend. Cabernet Sauvignon exudes power, length and structure while their endemic Pinotage creates a uniquely South African feel. Gentle Merlot fruit binds it all together. The aptly named Steytler Vision is the realisation of Danie Snr’s innovation and craftsmanship.
