Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Region:  Stellenbosch

Tasting note:

‘Matured for 24 months in 225-litre barrels, 50% new. Very fragrant on the nose with top notes of flowers and herbs before red and black berries plus attractive oak-derived aromas of vanilla and spice. The palate is medium-bodied with great clarity of fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins. A wine of finesse and detail. Alc: 13.68%.’ – CE 96/100

‘Beguiling Old World nuance on 2019’s cassis: savoury spices & old books. At 13.7% alc, lighter than 2018 (14.8%) though in no way lacking fruit, oak (2 years, 50% new) adding aroma & flavour, & contributing to intricate tannin structure, bright acid adds nervy freshness. Deserves ample time to integrate & unfurl, released later than others in range.’ – Platter’s Guide, 5* (96/100)

‘A complex nose of dark aromas of black berry, cassis, blueberry with tobacco cedar and oak spice. The palate is supple and juicy – with concentrated black fruit supported by oak spice, roasted nuts and a hint of fresh fynbos. The tannins are firm yet well-knit and integrated.’ – Winemaker
