Ken Forrester FMC Chenin Blanc 2024

Ken Forrester Wines is situated on the slopes of the Helderberg mountain in Stellenbosch. Scholtenhof, one of the oldest farms in the Cape was originally granted to German, Frederick Boot (later Botha) who planted his first vines in 1694. In 1833 another German family, the named Scholtz (hence Scholtenhof) took over and farmed happily for nearly 100 years. Subsequently a succession of owners took up residence and the property fell on hard times in the early 1990s. In 1993, Ken Forrester and his wife Teresa bought the vacant and derelict farm and homestead and undertook a huge renovation of the vineyards and house. In 1994 the first wines were produced under the Ken Forrester label and were soon at the forefront of the Chenin Blanc revival.

Part of their Single Vineyard Icon range, this Chenin Blanc is from single parcel vines, where an older, special vineyard, like a small postage stamp on the map, produces exceptional fruit and extremely low yields. After barrel aging, only the very best individual barrels are selected to go into bottle, ensuring a unique superlative wine, justifiably the pinnacle of their efforts.
