Ken Forrester Wines is situated on the slopes of the Helderberg mountain in Stellenbosch. Scholtenhof, one of the oldest farms in the Cape was originally granted to German, Frederick Boot (later Botha) who planted his first vines in 1694. In 1833 another German family, named Scholtz (hence Scholtenhof) took over and farmed happily for nearly 100 years. Subsequently a succession of owners took up residence and the property fell on hard times in the early 1990s. In 1993, Ken Forrester and his wife Teresa bought the vacant and derelict farm and homestead and undertook a huge renovation of the vineyards and house. In 1994 the first wines were produced under the Ken Forrester label.
Ken Forrester Silver Rosé 2023 is produced from 100% hand-picked Grenache Noir grapes, from a single vineyard.

Tasting note:
“I simply love Grenache Rosé – I love it for all the red fruit flavours, the strawberry, pomegranate, red berry fruit and for the last few years we’ve experimented
with a single vineyard rosé from Grenache. So the intent was a delightful, softly pink, elegant fruit focused wine but it had to have structure and body and a long finish on the palate – all of this almost contrary to the fact that you press the grape gently and drain off just the freshest ‘free-run juice’ with little or no chance of getting tannins or structure from the skins! We are really thrilled with the result. The most daunting reality is we now have to somehow manage to do the same this vintage!” – Ken Forrester
