Established by Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel in 1709, Lourensford has a proud history as a world-class fruit farm. Fortunately, the winemaking tradition was revived when well-known Cape business man, Dr Christo Wiese purchased the Estate in 1998. Situated at Somerset West, the estate covers a remarkable 4,000 hectares, ranging almost all the way up Hederberg Mountain. It embraces a large fynbos conservatory, forests, orchards and 100 hectares of cool-grown vineyard, caressed by breezes off the Atlantic Ocean.
The wine spent 124 months on its lees in bottle before it was riddled and disgorged on 20 January 2022. No sugar eas added, thus making it a Brut Zero.
