Marianne Wine Estate is nestled at the foothills of the Simonsberg mountain, in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands. This boutique winery of 26ha of vines produces a wide range of premium wines : rosé, white and red with a beautiful aging potential. The property was purchased in 2004 by French businessman Christian Dauriac, already owner of three Châteaux in St Emilion and Pomerol (Bordeaux right-bank). Their wines are the perfect reflection of what they are – a blend of French Savoir-faire and South African terroir. The Gallic touch is also seen in some of the wine names and the planted varieties. And, of course, the winery name, which is explained on the particularly striking and artistic labels: ‘Marianne is a young, vital woman, a fictional character, who embodies the French Republic and its core ideals – ‘Liberty, Brotherhood and Equality’.
Marianne Merlot 2015

Region: Paarl
Tasting note:
“The small grape berries from this vintage allowed for production of a concentrated, silky structured Merlot – dark red in colour with tasty tannins. Black and blue fruits, liquorice with some hints of savouriness can be found on the nose and palate. The palate is round with a long, savoury finish. Tasty tannins at the end of palate promise for great ageing potential.” – Winemaker
