Tasting note:
There is an intense deep dark garnet colour to this wine. Abundant aromas of ripe black berry fruits emanate from the glass. There are hints of dried herbs, tobacco spice and cedar in the backround. The palate is generous with flavours of ripe blackcurrant and dark black berry notes. The tannins are firm with a grippy yet fine tannin stucture. The mid-palate is rich and and full bodied leading to lingering finish of dried Italian herbs, cedar and tobacco leaf.
“50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 16% Petit Verdot and 11% Cabernet Franc, all grapes from Stellenbosch. Matured for 20 months in 225-litre barrels, 38% new. Pretty aromatics with top notes of violets and herbs before cassis, a hint of earth and pencil shavings. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, this makes for elegant drinking. Still tightly wound, it should mature with benefit. Alc: 14%.” – CE 95/100
