Moreson harvest their Mata Mata Cabernet 4Ha vineyard site near the Berg River on the farm. Winemaker Clayton Reabow ( since 2007 ) told us, during a recent tasting of their range at Caroline’s, that “I finally feel that I am ready to face the public & trade with confidence, borne out of my pride in the current range – gone are the rustic Moreson red wines of yesteryear – in their place are red wines of soul and finesse”. We were blown away by this one, in particular, and just had to share it with you! It has attractive cassis and oak on the nose and a flavour which shows concentrated red & black berry fruit, with hints of buchu. It is full-bodied with fresh acidity and smooth tannins. A delicious, sturdy wine which will be an ideal accompaniment to chargrilled rump steak, roast beef or lamb. We recommend that you rather put it away in a cool ( 16 – 18degC ) cellar, to mature until 2025+.
