“Grapes from a vineyard planted in 2019 to clone 95. Matured for 10 months in 228-litre barrels, 25% new. 50% malo-lactic fermentation. Pear, peach, citrus and floral perfume plus the merest hint of vanilla and spice. The palate is seemingly light yet intensely flavoured (alcohol is 14% so this is by no means a wine that might be considered too lean). Taut and poised – a great line of acidity and wonderful texture, a certain granularity about it. A refined and sophisticated version of the variety, this is a cuvée to watch.” – CE 97pts

Oldenburg Vineyards is situated in an elevated position in the Banghoek Valley, above the town of Stellenbosch. In 2003 current owner and entrepreneur, Adrian Vanderspuy, acquired Oldenburg from his grandmother. He began analyzing the terroir and climate before replanting the vines, giving the estate a new life.
The Oldenburg Vineyards Series is a true expression of terroir through their range of single cultivar wines. The major geographical features that create their unique climate are known as The 8 Elements: Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, mountain ranges, mountain amphitheatre, cool winds, elevation, soils and Rondekop. The farm is surrounded by an imposing mountain amphitheatre, with their vineyards arranged like puzzle pieces around Rondekop – their iconic and perfectly round hill. The elevated position in the mountains gives a unique and refreshing coolness. The soils which are predominantly weathered granites and Table Mountain sandstones are over 600 million years old. They are perfect for water retention and their rockiness allows for deep root penetration.
The eight elements are depicted on the intricate Oldenburg Vineyards Series label design. Wines are made in an uncompromising manner, intending to showcase the finest characteristics of each cultivar.
