Paserene is a boutique winery in Franschhoek, owned by Martin Smith and Ndabe Mareda, that produces high-end, luxury wines. With a strong emphasis on ‘sense of place and people’, they take great care to ensure all the wines they produce, the artwork on the labels, and the tasting experience is truly authentic and guarantee a lasting legacy. The name Paserene comes from the Latin word Passeriformes, the order of ‘travelling and free’ birds containing swifts and swallows.
The luxury Paserene Wine Range is made from grapes sourced from wine farms in Tulbagh, Elgin, and Franschhoek. The Chardonnay is from Elgin, which gives the wine a light, feminine quality. Elgin has a cool climate which is best for aromatic white grapes, allowing them to retain their bright acidity and full flavour. The girl on the label of the Chardonnay represents the beauty of Mother Nature, and the tranquility of the Elgin setting.
Paserene Chardonnay 2020
R900.00
Region: Franschhoek
Tasting note:
Green to gold in colour with a vibrantly clear tint. On the nose the wine shows bright citrus with whiffs of lemon sponge, honeysuckle and oatmeal, followed by chalk and a saline ocean spray. The wine boasts a broad and flavourful palate with domineering flavours of lime, complemented by rich yet still delicate tropical and notes of lightly grilled nuts.
