This 974ha farm has been quietly operating on the N-Eastern slopes of the Simonsberg since 1964. Grapes and wine were sold to Distell, but a certain portion is made by winemaker Neil Bester, who has been in charge of the cellar since 1993. They have 400ha of top quality, well established vineyards, with Bordeaux varietals performing superbly.
This Cabernet impresses with its ripe Cassis and tobacco on the nose. On palate it is loaded with deep red blackcurrants, and an ample fruit core supported by plush ripe tannins, good acidity and well-integrated oak. A great wine which needs to mature in a cool cellar until 2020+. Incredible value – buy more while you can!
