The beautiful Plaisir de Merle Wine Estate is situated at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain between Paarl and Franschhoek. The wines produced here are inspired by the harmony of a rich history, the fertile soil and lush vineyards. Their quest in making exceptional wines would have found favour with Huguenot founder, Charles Marais, who named the farm Le Plessis Marly after the small village from which he had come in France.
The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vines planted on the South-eastern slopes of Simonsberg Mountain. Planted in decomposed granite soils in the shade of the mountain, which slows down ripening of the grapes, makes for a beautifully structured, rich fruit, complex wine.
