Plaisir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Tasting note:

Full-bodied, the wine displays blackberries, dark chocolate, cedar, sweet vanilla with a firm tannin structure on the palate and lingering sweet red berry fruit. The wine was matured in French oak barrels, of which 60% new wood, for 12 to 16 months.  Drinking well now, but maturation in a cool cellar until 2028 would be rewarding. Platter 5* 96P

Food pairing:

Rump or Sirloin steak, with a creamy black mushrooms sauce.
