Wild herb aromas of sage, oregano and rosemary introduce you to a palate thats dense yet refined, with lots of whole bunch spice and structure, negligible oak influence, detailed, layered tannins, some underlying grip and layers of dark berry fruit. Porseleinberg is home to a groundbreaking Cape Syrah that exemplifies the essence of terroir-driven, authentic wine. Owned by Boekenhoutskloof and run by Callie Louw. The extremely rugged and dry schistous mountain doesn’t invite easy viticulture, but of course extreme terroir produces extreme wine! The ever-humble and hospitable Callie Louw is the farmer, winemaker and custodian of this special vineyard. At home on his John Deere tractor, Callie produces a profound and frankly delicious wine. Callie also makes his own labels using an old-school letterpress printing machine which he is always happy to show off to visitors.
