Remhoogte Wine Estate, north of Stellenbosch, is home to the Boustred family – patriarch and owner Murray, with sons winemaker Chris and marketer Robert. Initially the vineyards were all planted in the valleys and lower slopes on the property and it wasn’t until the mid 1990s that they began uprooting the lower vineyards and planting slopes higher on the property, in search of better drained and cooler sites. All varieties have been carefully paired to the site on which they are planted. The vineyards vary in age from just planted to thirty-six years old. There are eight varieties of grapes planted on the property. Remhoogte Wine Estate has three ranges: the Reserve, Premium and Free to Be range. Each range represents a specific winemaking style and tells its own story.
Only the exposed bunches on the morning sun side of their thirty-five year old Chenin Blanc vineyard are selected for this wine. They turn gold in colour as a result of their exposure giving the wine a unique honeyed character. This wine is fermented with the wild/indigenous yeasts in older French oak barrels giving it an incredible complexity showing rich, honeyed fruit.

Tasting note:
“Light gold. Floral notes of honeysuckle and Jasmine. Ripe mandarin oranges. Caramel and ginger. Bright fruit and the signature honeyed or waxy texture coating the palate on entry. A mild phenolic grip and briny acid bring freshness and a long mouthwatering finish” – Winemaker
