Reyneke is one of 5 Stellenbosch properties to get First Growth status in Tim Atkin’s 2017 SA Report. Reyneke farm began in 1863 when it was then named ‘Uitzicht’, meaning ‘view’. It is located overlooking Stellenbosch and False Bay with north, south and east facing slopes. Reyneke is certified organic and biodynamic and follows sustainable practices in everything they do. ‘Their wines demonstrate the care they take, not infallible wines, rather honest and personality-driven wines that are distinctive, as much cerebral as sensory experiences,’ says Neal Martin.
Reyneke Reserve White Sauvignon Blanc 2022
R492.00
Region: Stellenbosch
Tasting note:
‘This is the last vintage of the Reserve White, alas, as the grapes will be used for the Biodynamic Sauvignon Blanc in future. Made with grapes from two adjacent, south-facing blocks, it has layers of kelp, struck match and pink grapefruit, a ferrous undertone, some cream from ten months on lees and beautifully handled 65% new wood. Farewell, old friend. 2025-30’ – Tim Atkin MW 96pts
‘A vibrant nose featuring lime, lemon, kiwi, elderflower, and a hint of flint. The palate is characterized by zesty lime, tropical kiwi, and litchi, complemented by subtle white flowers. A balanced integration of oak and lees adds complexity ot the finish, while fresh acidity provides length and structure.’ – Winemaker
