Stellenrust was established in 1928. It consists of about 400ha (200ha planted) of which half is stretched over the Golden Triangle area of Stellenbosch. The other half is situated high up in the Bottelary Hills, renowned for its cool climate and late afternoon sea breezes. Stellenrust is one of the largest family owned wine estates in South Africa.
This 100 % Chenin Blanc comes from 55 year-old vines on Bottelary Hills planted in ironstone. After harvest, the juice was drawn off into a special selection of barrels and allowed to ferment naturally. Fermentation took just under 8 months to finish and the wine was kept on the fermentation lees for an additional 1one month. Nine months in oak: 90% French and 10% Hungarian oak. 54 year old bush vines from Bottelary property planted in ironstone.
