Daniël de Waal’s boutique winery, Super Single Vineyards, is tucked away in a quiet valley of Stellenboschkloof on Canettevallei – an old wine and lavender family farm dating back to 1682.
Super Single Vineyards focuses on the production of handcrafted wines from specially selected single vineyards throughout the Western Cape. The name Pella means ‘place of gathering’ which refers to the union of terroir and vines. Pella wines are produced from vineyards in the Coastal Region.
This single vineyard flourishes side by side with Acheulean tools, dating back over 40,000 – 100,000 years ago; that is where the name ‘Oukliprant’ is derived from, meaning ‘old stone ridge’.
An east-facing vineyard planted in deep, weathered granite soils, where the vines benefit a lot from the cool Atlantic Sea breeze during summer.
