Being transported from one Swartland farm to the next a Nguni cow decided she had travelled far enough and jumped. Farm owner Danie Rust found her in his Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard and promptly named her SURVIVOR. Like her, the SURVIVOR Wines start with a leap in the vineyard and in true Nguni spirit their grapes are now sourced not only from the Swartland, but also the Elgin Valley, Stellenbosch, Darling, Tradouw and Hemel-en-Aarde, to compose the unique complexity and diversity of the wines in the Survivor Range. Pierre Wahl excels at creating powerful and elegant wines, choosing to showcase the cultivar’s fruit characteristics, embraced by an old-world elegance in structure and texture.
The Cellar Master Pendulum is from vineyards in Tradouw, in the heart of the Little Karoo, known for its continental climate with cold nights and warm days. The Cabernet Franc and Merlot are grown on clay/loam soils with some decomposed Bokkeveld Shale. The age of the Cabernet Franc vineyard in 2019 was twenty years and that of the Merlot, eighteen years.
Blend: 85% Cabernet Franc and 15% Merlot
